Exploring Emerging Technologies and Research

On Wednesday, July 29th, 2020, George Veletsianos held an online meeting in the style of AMA (ask me anything) often found on Reddit and similar platforms. The purpose of this meeting was for new graduate students to ask questions they may have regarding educational research.
During this meeting, I asked Dr. Veletsianos:
How would one explore research in emerging technologies that are currently underdeveloped?
Dr. Veletsianos recommended that you view the exploration phase or gathering knowledge like an onion. The research question is at the core, and with each outer preceding layer, you explore broader aspects of the research question. As a result of this conversation, I decided to create a simple infographic to help organize my thoughts of our conversation and, hopefully, help others understand the daunting task of getting started in emerging technology research.
